From the Plain Dealer (EARTH WEEK) August 1, 2009

Next five years: A resumption of global warming due to increasing solar activity and a resurgent El Nino should set the stage for a warming of the Earth over the next five years that will be far greater then earlier predicted...

The report: In a report to be published in Geophysical Research Letters researchers from NASA and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory explain why the hottest year on rcord in 1998 was followed by relatively cooler years. They write that the stability in global temeratures observed over the last seven years was mainly due to less solar energy reaching the Earth during the downward phase of the 11 year solar cycle, combined with a lack of a strong El Nino.

INSIGHT: I have spent time in the "class room" while Gore's video was presented and had the opportunity to be in the room while a Disney "female new rock band" performed for a group of middle school students following a "Go Green" global warming presentation that suggested that "Polar Bears" were going to disappear on an ice flow.

Excerpts from the following article indicate that what is now happening has happened before. Long before the start of the industrial revolution.

From the Plain Dealer of Saturday, 12/20/2008 page A2:

"Artic balance: a new study says some polar bears are likely to survive a melting Arctic by switching their food source from seals to the eggs of the snow goose. Polar bears survived a period of significant global warming 125,000 years ago when sea level was 12 to 18 feet higher and trees grew above the Artic Circle, points out researcher Robert Rockwell of the American Museum of Natural History, writing in the journal Polar Biology. They did so by changing their diet as the climate and available food sources changed......Polar Bears have already been seen eating some snow geese eggs......There are now too many geese nesting in the Artic for the region's support system......."

The discussions about the cause of  global warming and the exisiting rules now in place, being suggested or being proposed to be put in place based on the possibility of a problem will at some point have a negative impact on the business base that provides 80% of Strongsville's operating income.

Your personal research and thus understanding of this issue is important to the future of Strongsville and the Region.

Is it true? Is it false?
What caused the climate change
125,000 years ago?
Why did the Artic turn back to "ice cold"?
How did the Polar Bear avoid extinction 125,000 years ago?

EARTHWEEK: (THE PLAIN DEALER-4/4/2009)

Atmospheric researchers in Wisconsin say that decreases in the amount of dust  in the atmosphere over the past 30 years have contributed to rising temperatures in North Atlantic Ocean far more than global warming. Writing in the journal Science,....Amato Evans says that more than two-thirds of the regional warming can be attributed to changes in the amount of dust blowing off African deserts and variations in tropical vocanic activity during the period.
